    Child Support Appeal
I Live in New York . I hired 4 months ago a attorney for a child support appeal;after 4 months he told me that they accept the appeal but didn't explain anything to me. I don't know if a have to go to court , call child support office , I really don't know what to do. I called him but he's never at his office.

    WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

You can call the support office and see if they have received a new order but it would be better to go in because (at least where I am) they won't give information like that over the phone. If they don't know then go to the office of whatever judge you were to be heard by (the one that accepted the appeal) and find out from his/her secretary. If it was just an acceptance of appeal and you haven't been heard and no new orders have been made it may just be that you haven't received your court date yet.

Are you the party that is paying or receiving the support?

Who filed the appeal? What were the grounds for filing?

I'm paying $630 which is not the 17% , I have to be paying $500 dollars. The attorney filed the appeal.

Why didn't you file it? You don't need an attorney for that.

If your attorney stated that your appeal was accepted, you need to find out if they have lowered your support amount or if they have simply filed a court date. Call the courthouse and ask them what happened.
