    Troy Bilt electric pto
Hi, first time I have posted hope I do it right. I have a 22 hp Troy Bilt garden tractor with an electric pto. My problem is the pto keeps shutting down, sometime I can go for a while other times it will kick out repeatedly. I have tried wiggling the switch and that doesn't seem to matter, also replaced the drive belt. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I don't like to start replacing items. Thanks, Don

Tractor starts and runs great it is the mower deck that the pto controls. Switch mounted on the dashboard, pull it up to engage the blades and I guess it is a safety feature that shuts down if you get off tractor. Somebody told me to check wiring so that is my next attempt. Thanks

Hello DonLac, This is also my first entry. I have just recently experienced the same problem with my Troy Bilt Hydro. My PTO just started disengaging. I was wondering if you ever found a solution as it is driving me Mad. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I got mine running or should say my neighbor and I as it is a two man job. If you have your book that came with the tractor then just follow the guide for changing the two belts under the tractor body. Mine is about 7 years old and I use it for grass, snow, and hauling so the belts get quite a work out they were stretched and cracked. If you don't have the booklet then I'm pretty sure that you can download it at Troybilt.com (?) or I can try and condense it and email it to you. Hope I have been of some help. Don

I just acquired a Troy Built mower and the previous owner said he ran over a dog chain and broke the shear pin. I have the deck off and am looking at the PTO at the bottomof the engine.

I do not see any shear pin.

When the knob to engage is pulled out on the console, the PTO clutch does not spin.

What is my next step? Remove the clutch assy?

Is there a way to insure that the wiring is not the issue?

THis is making me nuts. We have a troy built 18 horse lawn tractor that refuses to start when we need it. Sometimes is does and sometimes it doesn't. New battery, new starter, new solonoid valve. One min. it starts the next it won't.
    Could it be the timing...
