Beaumark (GE) dryer clicking but not starting
My beaumark (GE made) dryer model # 640504191 has an issue with the motor turning. When you click power on it sounds like it wants to turn on but just clicks. And slight hum for a second. I cleaned out the motor area moved things around a bit and it worked again for a few minutes, started making a loud high pitch whining sound as the motor seemed to shake too much and then shut down again. The only obvious issue is a spring was lying under the motor twisted and unconnected to anything when I opened the back of the machine. Our pulley system is diagram L style. From the diagram, it is not obvious where the spring would even attach I assume this is the drum stabilizer spring. The spring picture attached has the end curled up by me but they were straight when found and more stung out. However, looking at some descriptions, it looks like I may have an idler pulley arm. Says with this arm it sets the tension of the belt and does not have a spring. This would make sense since I have no idea where to attach the old spring. Perhaps the spring was replaced by the idler arm? Any ideas on what my issue may be?
