For my history class, I have to put these things into a timeline:
1. Bronze age begins
2. beginning of the stone age
3. homo erectus appears
4. year 1 a.d.
5. invention of cuneiform
6. cro magnons appear
7. neanderthals appear
8. end of stone age
9. discovery of lucy
10. Homo habilis appears
11. 2007 a.d.
12. Early hominids appear
13. First civilization emerges in Sumer
14. Paleolithic age begins
15. Neolithic age begins

Some of those things you can put in order quickly. For instance, you know that the stone age is older than the bronze age. Year 1 ad is 1006 years before 2007 ad.

Get a piece of paper and do it roughly. Scratch and scribble all over the place. Use your computer to find events (like, when was Lucy discovered?) and fit them in.

Don't let the size of the assignment scare you. It's available information. Just find it and put it in order. Once you have it scribbled out, you can even create an artistic timeline with pictures. Good luck.
