    Ouch painful tan !
Hey guys! Well I went tanning last night for the second time in my life. The first time was for only ten min and I could not tell much diff but this last time I went for twenty min and wow I am like red all over and it's a bit painfull ! O and without tannin lotion . I am wondering if this is normal for my body to be red and kind of painful?? And if so when is the redness going away and finally getting a real tan??

It won't just turn into a tan. You have to get the red down to where it isn't painful and go out for another 10 minutes everyday until you quit burning then you can increase the time.

    Aloe is good for burns

Honey, it's called a sunburn. You should always start slow and build up. 20 minutes is WAY too long for the second time.

    Is this a joke?

I find it hard to believe you are tanning but don't know what a sunburn is.

I think it may be because kids nowadays are taught to use tanning beds and avoid the sun.
Some of the teens in my neighborhood made similar comments in June when they got sunburned.

Sunbeds can be just as bad or worse than the sun.

    Hello:

One in THREE white people will get CANCER from the sun and/or tanning beds during their lifetime... I think tanning beds should come with a warning.

OK well how about now I go and get a spray tan on top of my sunburn?? Because I really really need it for tonight and I don't want to look all red and crazy??

I don't know anything about spray tans. As long as they don't need heat to active it then you might be okay for one night, but your burn is going to start peeling eventually.

    Um. Can you spell "hijack"?

As to the sunburn, Nvrsaynver, you can try to cover it up, but yeah, you are stuck with a raging sunburn for a few days. You are going to be red.

Just for information: the National Cancer Institute says that tanning beds increase the risk of skin cancer the same way too much sun does. A little Ultraviolet light is good for you. Burns are not good for you. And a deep, deep tan is not good for your skin either. Also, if there is ANY possibility of becoming pregnant, you should not use a tanning booth because UV light destroys folic acid (folate), which protects the baby from a particular birth defect.
