    Air Conditioning unit
Since 6-29-09 the company has been trouble shooting why my unit is not working. It started the breaker trip and they put in a new motor, that wasn't the answer. They told me to call an electrician to install a new breaker I did that. Keep in mind my compressor was working per the technican, the new breaker was installed. 2 weeks passed the same problem from 6-29-09 the breaker trip again. Another technician came out and decided the compressor was bad, installed a new compressor 1 day in the breaker trip again. Can you tell me your thoughts on this issue the product is a York 13seer for a townhouse.

My thoughts are you need to find a qualified contractor since the people who are now working on your unit have NO idea as to what they are doing.

I do have a couple of questions:

    1. Do you have an old mercury thermostat?

    2. Did the trip occur after a momentary power outage?

    3. Did the trip occur when you moved changed the thermostat setpoint?

If the breaker is the correct size, You may require a "start assist" kit w\ a start capacitor and a potential relay, but the start up amp draw must be checked first!

A 13 SEER unit should be fairly new and should have a scroll compressor. It does sound like your compressor is drawing excessive amperage (that is if the CB is sized correctly). FYI, may have a 5-year compressor warranty. You could get the model and serial number off the nameplate, and call the local York distributor and check with them.
