    Dog pooping in the house
    Good morning
I have a 10 month puppy who has been house trained for some time. He has been neutered. Him and my other dog (who is 3) have the full run of the house when we are at work and at night.
Unfortunately my 10 month old has started pooping in the same spot each night or early morning. He knows that he has done wrong as when we get up he will refuse to move from the bedroom (giving his crime away)
My husband does not think that its fair to put the 10 month old out at night and keep our older dog in (which I agree).
There is nothing unusual that has occurred in our lives and this has now been going on for a couple of months. I feed them in the morning each day.
This is causing some major angst in the household, Please Help

Are you putting him out for awhile each night before you go to bed?

When my dog starts pooping in the house or chewing things he shouldn't I crate him or confine him to a smaller room with no rugs when he is not being watched. Usually once he gets out of ''the dog house'' he is on much better behavior.

Crate training or even just teaching him to be in his crate at night may be the best thing for him. My dogs love their beds and each night I say "ok boys time for bed" They run and get in their crates and sometimes during the day will run and lay down if they want privacy.

If you treat it like a punishment they will hate it but if you introduce him to it with a treat waiting inside or a safe chewy then they will associate it with good memories. Also try feeding your dogs earlier then what you are and as soon as you do taking them in the yard for some exercise of toy fetching... that will usually get them to go while outside. Good luck!

Thanks heaps for the info so far.
Unfortunately my dogs are very spoilt. There is no way that I could put them in a crate. My older dog has never done this and they are treated the same way. The problem is that I don't want my older dog to be punished at the same time as the puppy as that just doesn't seem fair.

My older dog hated being in a crate (and I am not really pro crating) but with my other dog it turned out she is now fine with it.
Also as Azdesertchic said it has to be treated in a non punishment way.

If you feel that you don't want to try the crating then I really don't see anything but feeding them earlier and putting them out for a while as late as possible before bedtime
