Birds, toads, snakes, lizards, wasps, other spiders, ME.
That really depends on which types of spiders you are referring to.
Daddy long legs are a good option. Granted, they are spiders, but they eat other spiders.
Sometimes mosquito hawks will get spiders, but I find them creepy.
Some birds and bats like to eat spiders...
Frogs, geckos, preying mantises (manti?), other crawly/jumpy critters like that.
But, the best option to getting rid of spiders, besides killing them, is doing it yourself. Every day, break the web that pops up. After a week or two, the spider will move on. If it can't keep a web, it can't catch food, and it will starve. They aren't stupid, they will go somewhere they can get to keep their web. They all want to live just like us! :D
Good advice guys.
Thanks.
I have Wolf Spiders out the A$$ in my house and all around it. I kill at least one a day inside of my house. Would a bug bomb be a good idea? I am considering it but don't know if it will help a lot.
The other day I seen a wolf spider in my sitting room between my master bedroom and master bath. I was waiting a few minuted to kill it and when I did I flipped on a light and saw a web with a huge sac and at least 50 baby spiders about the size of fleas in the web. Kind of creepy. I killed the mommy spider with an electric flieswatter and got what I could have the other babies. I hope I killed them or else I could have a sh!t ton more just crawling around my house. Kind of freaks me out.
Aren't wolf spiders those big huge disgusting spiders?? If so than I don't think many of the above mentioned remedies will work at killing those.
Oh God, if they are what I think they are I'd move! Might be able to tell I'm deathly afraid of Spiders. Adam, my man, your much braver than I:)
Yeah, watch out for wolf spiders. They're poisonous, and while most people deal OK with their bites it's best not to take the risk.
How to Get Rid of Wolf Spiders
I have read that they are not poisonous but they are just hunters and just wonder into houses on accident then they stay there.
I live in Indiana and the only 2 spiders that are poisonous here are the black widow and the brown recluse.
I hate spiders and I don't want my house to be overtaken by them. Ever see the movie Arachnaphobia? Creepy let me tell you.
I have all kinds of freaky bugs at my house. I zap them all and throw all the freaky ones in a cup. There is a lot of bugs in that cup that I had never seen before I had moved into that house in the country. Also my house is right on the lake so maybe that makes it worse.
If you Google wolf spiders you will get the image of what I am dealing with.
I'm familiar with them. I live in Ohio and have seen wolf spiders the size of softballs. I've also seen what happens when someone gets bit by one.
Usually it's just a painful, red bump that goes away after a week or two. There are people, however, who have extreme reactions to wolf spider venom and can actually die from a bite. They can also make animals sick if they get bit.
Well that isn't good at all. I hope my dog doesn't get bit. That is how I find most of them because I see him chasing them across the floor so I go kill them.
I always think about the thing where they say you eat so many spiders in a life time. That is creepy. I wonder how many of them I have ate.
Supposedly the spiders you eat throughout your lifetime happen while you're asleep.
You'll ingest more spider parts with potato chips than sleeping with your mouth open, Adam. To get rid of Wolf spiders, you'll need to get rid of their prey which is most likely crickets around a lake house in Indiana this time of year. Diatomaceous earth or Delta Dust in the crawlspace and on the sill plates would be my recommendation for the crickets and other prey insects.
Haha. Nice.
You are right about the crickets. I just killed one that was in my house the other day.
I'd lose my smart aleck certification if I didn't say "I told you..." so consider yourself told.
Thanks Pal
