I am having a new home built with a HVAC system of 14 SEER.
The Bryant dealer installed a 213ANA042-C Heat Pump, which is 13 SEER, with a FX4CNF042 Air Handler to which he says the combined unit makes it 14 SEER.
Another local Bryant Dealer said for new construction it should be a matched 14 SEER unit so there are no questions.
Does this combined unit make the 14 SEER Rating?

I`m curious to hear answers from others,, my thoughts are that I don`t think the 2 together can add up to a 14 seer system

Thank you for your response hvac1000, the factory rep said that it was a 14 SEER because the air handler was manufactured before the end of 2008 when they made a change that lowered the SEER rating to 13.5. I mentioned what the ratings stated in the document you supplied, emailed it to them and they are now running tests to make sure of the rating, results in a few days, so they say. Thanks again.Quote:

They would NEVER make changes to lower the SEER. They will do anything to elevate the SEER since that is such a big deal today. So the factory rep probably lied. It will not be the first time for a rep to do that and you can tell them I said so. They hate to get caught with there pants down. LOL
I was told they made changes on some parts to make it less expensive to build therefore reducing the air flow and that is why the newer model went from a 14 to a 13.5
So the home you are building right now is getting equipment that was made in 2008 and the equipment that was made in 2008 is more efficient than the equipment built in 2009. I am sorry but I have a very hard time believing that.
In order to prove that point the manufacturer always changes the part number usually by a letter difference when they make ANY changes to unit. Since they said they made changes to the unit how come the model number you provided here is the EXACT model number I looked up and provided to you the EXACT information for that exact model. I hope you understand what I just said. But to make it crystal clear they could NOT have changed any parts since the model number did not change.
What I have always found out in life is that no matter how good someone lies the truth will always come out. You sir are being lied to based on the facts of the manufactures own statements and calculations. Sorry but that is the way I see it and that is the way the manufacturer see it so the mfg rep must be telling a tall tail to try and prevent the installer from having to remove the equipment and installing the correct piece to give you what you are paying for. A 13 SEER is a 13 SEER.
Correct you are, caught them with there pants down for sure, I can have the correct equipment (FX4CNF048) that would rate it at 14.5 SEER or keep the existing unit at 13.5 and get some money back. Think I will have them change to the correct unit to make a point.Quote:

Good for you. I always like to see a customer get what they paid for. Enjoy your new home and do not release all the money till you are sure the home is OK. It is always nice to have a HAMMER if you need it.
