    Removing paint from plaster walls
How do I remove old layers of paint to get down to the original plaster walls?

That's a tall order. I really don't think you're going to be able to do it. Of course if you have months and months of time and forearms of steel for the sanding you could probably do it, but you'd be left with a less than desirable surface.

I'm curious; what is your goal in attempting it?

Rusty is right. If house was built before 1972, there is lead in the paint. This was used as a smoothing agent. If there are children in house any attempt at removing old paint can do them great harm. If government gets involved will cost a small fortune to get rid of leaded paint.

    Good luck
