    Notebooks
Any recommendations on a good, reasonable, trailling edge system for a college student.
    Thanks

What sort of use and budget did you have in mind as this makes a great difference to what we would recommend ?

I was hoping to get something around 1,000 bucks, including a printer.
    Thanks

Have you talked to your school bookstore? Often they have good deals for students. And they will also know what is required for your courses.

But you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a decent machine for that amount. I would look primarily at HP or Compaq.

There's certain things you should bear in mind.
    • Screen size - 15"+
    • Hard Drive - 60Gb +
    • RAM - 512Mb
    • Optical Drive - DVD Writer
    • Graphics - Needs to be seperate for good game play, but for everyday stuff doesn't really matter
    • CPU - They are all very strong, but I choose AMD over Intel

Other than that brand doesn't really matter.
Acer do some very well spec'd, reasonably priced machines.

Now when it comes to a printer do you need it to be colour ?
If so then there are a lot of very cheap colour ones about.
Now why do I say buy a cheap one, well it works out cheaper to buy a new low range printer than to replace the ink!! Really, go check out the prices of ink, it's painful.
