Buzzing transformer replaced but still down
Hi, my furnace just quit working with no warning of any kind. Upon inspecting it I find that the transformer was buzzing and hot so I replaced it. The furnace is still not working, no sound. No pilot, nothing. It is a pilot-free,gas-fired, horizontal furnace(sears brand). Could it be the thermostat. I don't want to buy anything else that will not solving the problem. I would appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks

The first thing to look for is a fuse on the output side of the transformer, often a blade type on the furnace circuit board. If it is OK, locate the red and white wires that go to the thermostat. Jumper or short their contacts at the furnace. If the furnace then starts a heat cycle, the thermostat isn't working. If not, then the problem may be with the circuit board or inducer fan motor. Post back for more details on them if you need to.
