Disposal piggy back under counter lights
I piggy backed a set of under counter lights to the side screws of the disposal switch. When I turned the disposal on it ran slower and the lights grew dim and stayes dim after I turned the disposal off. The disposal continued to ran very slowly as well when I turned it off then it stopped. It wasn't spinning because of operation it was still being powered with a reduced current. I've taken the wires off the switch but I'd like to know what happened here.

A switch does not have a hot and neutral even though it has 2 screws. It is hot going to the switch and when thrown the other wire becomes a continuation of the hot wire. Undo what you did. Is there an additional white wire running through the switch box not currently connect to the switch?

I've already undid what I did I just didn't understand why. There is an outlet right next to the disposal switch. I'll look at attaching to the wires going to it or can I piggy back on the outlet side screws? I think I still owe you a beer from my last question several months ago. Do you have a brother in herndon VA?

Yep on Herdon, Beer should be Corona light and the outlet will have the black/hot and white/neutral you need. Piggy back on the screws or use the spare screw or stab inbcak on mosy receptacles.
