Most likely cause is a blown head gasket or a warped or cracked head. This will allow water to enter the combustion chamber so no external leaks.

Has your Civic recently overheated? Have you observed white exhaust smoke? It's an indication coolant is being burned in the cylinders.

Remove the spark plugs and have each cylinder's compression checked, recording the readings for each. Then, tell us what those readings are. They may indicate a warped head and leaking head gasket. If so, the head may need to be machined, the valves examined for damage, and the head gasket replaced. Unfortunately, this would explain the symptoms your're describing.
