    Hi, Paintplus!

The first thing that I would suggest doing, is to go to the city hall of whatever town or city where you'll be wanting to work to see what the specific requirements are. I know that the requirements will vary, depending on the location. I'm also assuming that you're talking about residential and/or commercial painting. Is that correct?

One of the things that I do for a living, is that I'm a house painter. Where I work, I don't need to be licensed. I definitely have liability insurance, though. If I were to have employees, then I would need to carry worker's comp insurance for the employees. There are also tax forms that would be needed if employees are involved.

You also might want to consider being incorporated as a small business.

    Thanks!
