Native ladybird population on the up?
The past few years, it's been obvious the native 7 and 2-spot ladybirds are under serious threat by the Harlequin ladybird. I'd barely seen half a dozen since 2005 but this year seems to be a good year for them. Especially here in Essex, I haven't seen a single Harlequin in months and there's been a population boom of 7-spots. I saw at least 30 yesterday. Having said that, I haven't seen a 2 spot in years. Anyone else finding more native ladybirds or is my garden an anomaly? Anyone found a cluster of 2-spots anywhere? Would be interesting to see if it's a regional thing.
