I had 5 wires hooked up to this T-stat. R,Y,G,W,B (all hooked up to their perspective colors on the t-stat.

I have an oil furnace with an seperate AC/ unit outside.

The new programmable has a jumper HG / HC (Set to HG)
The inside panel has RG/RC with a plate jumper on them.
It also has all the same color codes as my old one, but no Red.

    Can you help please.

I am no HAVC wizard. I came here to answer dog questions where I do feel I have more than average knowledge. I see many HVAC questions I think my figuring out my own problems gives me enough to answer them. I don't have that wide of experience.

I think the HG and RG are for gas, which at the thermostat should be the same as oil, the thermostat switches the red to white and the furnace goes through its ignition cycle. Leave the jumpers where they are. Connect the red wire, which is the power from the thermostat, to the HG. If you have a separate transformer for the A/C, remove the RG/RC jumper and connect the hot wire from the other transformer.

I am posting this to H&C for other to critique it or supplement it. It is in
Your best interest for others to have a chance to correct any mistakes I may make.

    METT
Set to HG if your furnace will turn on the fan by itself (usually after a slight delay)
Set to HE if you furnace will not turn on the fan and need the thermostat to specifically turn it on also.
