Id check for loose connections at the motor, while you are down there, check to see if the motor is getting the voltages is should.
It sounds like the motor is shot, but it could very well be just a loose connection.
Before replacing an expensive motor, you will want to verify that it is getting the voltage it needs. If you are getting voltage to the motor, and it is not turning, then your motor is faulty, if you are not getting voltage to the motor, then you have another problem. As you say, the timer is turning or "clicking", that suggest to me that if it is in the timer, it is in the contacts.
Lets start with the simple first, checking for loose wires, and verifying voltages.
I will also add, that you didn't mention a "humming noise". If you do hear a humming noise, that's most likley the motor turning. If the agitator, or transmission still isn't working, you may have a broken belt.
