What happens when paint gets in an outlet---and then the power shuts off?

If it shuts off power only to that outlet, paint may be interupting the connection.
Paint can cause a bad connection and generat heat. Some Items like motors don't like low voltage.

It may have also tripped the breaker. Did any other outlets go out too?
