My son is just 15 days old.. I have him on a soy based milk called isomil..but he is constently hungry.. like i am feeding all the time...and then he gets cramps and bad gas and has a hard time pooping.. and i dont know what to do to help him..Am I feeding him too much? b/c it just seems like the formula isnt filling him up enough and i Feel like my son is starving...but i know that he isnt b/c he always has a bottle in his mouth and every time i try to give him a soother to try and help he juist spits it out..and i dont know what else to do for him...and my daughter who is 4 is getting sad b/c her little brother is crying.. so it makes her cry b/c she doesnt want to see her little brother cry.. Please help me find an answer as to what i can do for my little monkey!!!! :confused::confused::confused::confused:

Do you hold him when you feed him? If so, how do you hold him? If not, how is he propped up?

I hold him normal. Is there a way to hold my child when he eats? Is that why he isn't feeling full? I don't understand what you mean by how is he positioned when I feed him??

Hold him so his head and body are more vertical than lying down. Also, make sure he isn't getting the milk too fast, that the nipple hole isn't too big so he is gulping. Don't feed him while he's lying down and with the bottle propped up on a pillow or blanket. Burp him more often. It's possible he and the formula don't agree. Lay him on his back now and then and move his legs slowly like little pistons. Also, go to the library for books with ideas on how to deal with the gas and how to do baby massage.

Have you tried talking to your Pediatrician about this issue?

When my children were babies, and I felt they were not getting full from their bottles, the doctor had me add baby oatmeal to the bottle to thicken the formula a bit.

I would not try this though, without talking to your Pediatrician first... because my children are 20 and 22 now, not sure what they are recommending these days.

Also when you are feeding your baby, make sure you are burping him every so often before he finishes that bottle to get the air bubbles out of his belly.

He may not be crying because he is hungry, babies are smart and it may be his thing that he knows that every time he cries, you pick him up or come running to him.

I've heard of adding baby cereal to the formula too. But my mom and aunts didn't do it until just before the babies were old enough to start eating cereal, just before about 6 months old I think. 15 days old might be too young for cereal.

I had to add oatmeal cereal to my one daughters formula from the time she was one month old because she couldn't keep formula down. It was that or cows milk but they say that is not good at all to do.
