Snapper Riding Mower Runs But No Movement
I bought this 1985 model used and refurbished... I thought.
Looking at other threads... I can say that when putting the mower in 1 through 5 speeds or reverse will work until the blades are engaged.
I can see when I tilted the mower back.. the rubber "flywheel"? Moves back and forth.
This mower was working fine until today, when I was shifting back and forth from reverse to speed 1.

    Help!

    Hi,
Do you mean it stops pulling or shuts off.
    Peace,
    Clarke

It stops pulling, I talked to another guy and he thinks it might be the clutch wheel is worn out (the rubber part)or is not engaging.
    Does that dound right?

    Hi,
Okay, the deck should not be able to do this normally.
The drive disc is the aluminum piece attached to the bottom of the engine, The disc with the rubber on it is the driven disc (this does not prevent lots of people who should know better or not from calling it the drive disc.) The dics when serviceable has about 3/8 - 1/2" of rubber on the circumference. Abuse will tear chunks out of it. Use will wear it down and put small stress cracks in it. I have seen them wear all the rubber off when used on flat terrain, and down to 1/4" when hills have to be negotiated.
Look on the front of the battery box and give the numbers off the tag. I know how to interpret them; worked for a Snapper dealer over 20 years ago.
    Peace,
    Clarke
