What is the black stuff coming through our well system?
    Greetings everyone!!
I have never owned a home with a well system before and we know absolutely nothing about it. We have had to shcok our well due to bacteria . Our well is 238' deep.
Now that we have shocked it, there is silt and black stuff coming through the lines.
Could this black stuff be from the bladder in the pressure holding tank??
If this is the case, what should we do??
Please help us. We do not want to ruin our system!!

First of all you have to figure out exactly what the "b lack stuff" is. Describe it. What's it feel like? Does it smell? To check a bladder tank just knock on the side of the tank starting at the bottom. If it "klunks" the same all the way up the tank is water logged. Or you could pop the snifter valve on top of the tank. If water comes out then change the tank.
This could also be a piece of the impeller. If you can figure out where it came from we can help but you're the one at the site so yo'll have to tell us. Good luck, Tom
