Removal of fuel solenoid from 24hp craftsman mower
My craftsman 24ohv engine has a fuel solenoid that needs to be replaced. Reading on similar issues I get the impression that I should be able to unscrew it from the carburator. Mine seems to turn but it is not unscrewing, it just spins. Do I have the wrong process to remove this solenoid? Do I need to drop the bowl?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Sounds to me as if you are turning the outer casing. At the part nearest the float bowl there should be part of it with a hex, or at least two flats. It is too narrow for most wrenches; I use a pair of ignition pliers (mine are Craftsman, but ChannelLock makes them also.)
Turning the casing can potetially tear the wiring to the solenoid and ruin it.
    Peace,
    Clarke

Thanks, I found flats and a 1/2 narrow wrench did the trick.
