    Weight gain
I am 17 weeks pregnant. I have gained so far a total of 13 lbs. I have been weighing myself every morning. I am a bit concerned to see that from one day to the next my weight jumps 2 lbs up and sometimes drops a lb. is this something that I should be worried about. I am trying to stay in my range of gaining weight. I know I have gone over already but don't want to gain too much. I had gained over 50lbs with my first child and I don't want to gain that much again. Putting on 2 lbs in a matter of 24 hours can this be water retention.

I'd stop weighing yourself every day... it will only cause you to worry. It can be normal for your weight to fluctuate up and down a bit during the early stages of pregnancy.

All you can do is eat sensibly from healthy choices. Watch your portion sizes and any snacking. Consider getting some sort of exercise each day. Walking, swimming, and yoga are all great in pregnancy.

Yes, some of the weight can be water weight. If your doctor or midwife becomes concerned with the increase, they will likely order a scan to determine if there is anything to be concerned about.
