    Landlord ripped me off
Ok I was going to move to FL for culinary school. Well I paid this women 2 months rent and $200 deposit on a room. I was there for 5 days not even that and she would not give me a dime back. She had like 12 black people there the night before starting stuff with me I felt in danger so I left. I told her to keep $500 for the first months rent and give me the $700 back. She would not do either. So I had to call and beg my mom to get me home. So now I owe her $300 because the women down there would not even buy my ticket back home. What can I do to get this money back. I was going to sue for $2500.

You can try suing but you left without trying to fix the problem so that may work against you.

Did you sign any lease or any type of agreements?

I hope you gave her a check and/or got receipts.

I sent money gram I signed junk lease with tons of errors in it. I talked to some people that said that it would not help her in court.

With that type of thing you shouldn't need a lawyer just something like $58. To file the suit

In your other post you said you have your own house.
How long ago did this landlord thing happen?

I had this place paid for in Ohio and did that place down there too. It was in July middle of July that that happened

The middle of July you can still sue and it wouldn't look like you were trying to pull something.

Ok this sounds stupid but what do I do since she is in FL and I am in Ohio?

You, call the police if someone "starts" something. And a group of black people may have just been friends giving the new guy a hard way to go

Did you not even look at the room first? And if you knew the lease had errors.

And I will make it evern worst, if she does not rent the room and it was a lease for several months, she can sue you to keep paying

According to FL laws since I have read them. I had to pay the first 30 days which I did. The rest was suppose to come back to me but has not. NO they were all there none of them lived there she brought them to start stuff with me. I am not raciest I am just saying.

Frankly I don't think you have a case. You had an agreement to rent the room. You broke that agreement by moving out after just a few days. You did not give sufficient notice. Therefore, you could easily be held responsible for the balance of the lease.

I can just see you coming into court and telling a judge that the landlord had "like 12 black people there the night before". That isn't going to get you very far.

If the landlord pulled a scam on you accepting your tenancy then trying to intimidate you to leave, you fell into her trap and I'm not very confident that you can get out of it.

I don't know what Florida law you are reading, but I don't see her only entitled to one month's rent given what you have told us.

Yeah it really wouldn't be worth pursuing considering the mileage. It would cost more than it is worth and you probably wouldn't win.
I didn't realize you were that many states away
