I just finished my schooling to be a nail tech and have been experimenting with colored gel. I did a set of nails with the colored gel (just the tips were colored) and they chipped and fell of within a week. I put extra builder gel on the nails so that they wouldn't chip and it didn't help. Does anyone have any pointers to avoid this problem?

Wouldn't this be a good time to ask your teacher how to adjust the gel so it doesn't chip after setting ? If you paid for the course, then I would want to do some follow up quesstions with them, if there is something you don't understand. I am sure they would be pleased to help.

I've never used anything other than solar powder when getting colored tips. I've been told this is the best. When I got gel nails they were garbage, worse than the Kiss brands press ons.
