Removal of wood adhesive from wood subfloor
How do you remove wood adhesie from a subfloor? I want to install strand bamboo in a master bath. My contracter put 1/4 inch plywood over it but it crunches when you walk on it. Im afraid he tried to provide a smooth surface but didn't get rid of the initial problem-the ADHESIVE. I don't want a problem with the new floors.

What kind of flooring did you have before. Did he use adhesive putting down the 1/4" sub flooring? Did he screw or nail? Did he use 1/4 plywood or luan?

To remove construction adhesive, you will have to scrape, soften with mineral spirits.

Engineered prefinishedhardwood was glued down before. The new plywood is stapled and it is luan.

Luan not recommended for sub flooring. Glue and screw 1/4 plywood. An electric staple gun not worth crap, a pneumatic staple gun probably shoot most of the way through luan. You be the judge as to whether old glue should be removed, probably not.
