Blank cd's not read but dvd's work?
I'm trying to upload music on my cd's, but the drive won't read blank disks. I thought it was totally gone but then I put in a dvd and it worked. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hey velocity,

Chances are if your CD Drive won't read CD's but will read DVD's, then there are 2 options.

1: Make sure the CDs you're using aren't defective. To Do this, go to a retail store and buy the smallest # of discs you can. Try to "upload" your songs to that.

2: If a separate brand of CDs do not work, the Drive is probably dead or dying. If your desktop/Laptop is less than a year old, the defective drive may be covered under your manufacturers warranty. If not, you can get a new one from any Staples, Future Shop, Best Buy, Tigerdirect, or even Wal-mart for as little as $40(desktop). If you're unsure as to how to install it into your system, I recommend you buy it from Staples or Future shop and have them install it for you. If you own a laptop, bring it into a repair shop and have the technicians take a look at it. It may be cheaper to get a new laptop.

    Hope this Helps
