94 Accord keeps needing jump after replacing starter
Okay; so back in May in replaced my starter trying to fix a Hot start problem that turned out to be my main relay. Thanks Texas Grease Monkey; I wish I would have know about this site before I changed my starter because it turns I never needed to change it. Texas you are awesome! Thanks for the help.

But since I changed the starter I keep having to get jumps. The day I put the new starter on I started the car and then turned it off to see if it would start right up. It didn't. I had to call my friend to come give me a jump after calling the mechanic at the parts store and removing it and putting it back on again. Hindsight; I should have put my original starter back on. Every couple of days I need to get a jump. My battery and alternator tested fine. I even returned an go another starter from the parts store thinking the one I got was defective. But sure enough, needing a jump again.

So I tried to fix my hot start problem by changing the starter before I knew that all I needed to changed was my PGM-FI Main Relay. Now, the lights work, the radio will come on, the horn blows;... I just need a jump to get the starter to fire. Oh and when it does turn over it sounds like a open throat cough or a rapid repeating sneeze.

    What did I do?

Something is not right and I suspect there's a problem with the battery. Try to substitute another battery. I don't recommend jumping any modern-day car, because of the risk of a voltage spike damaging the ECM, alternator, and sensors--it's a disaster when it happens.

Be sure to clean battery terminals and cable connections. Ensure the ground is clean and all connections are tight.
