Central air unit tries to turn on because I hear a click outside but it doesn't come on.

More details needed
Do you see the blower motor try but fail to start?
Does the indoor airhandler/furnace blower work?
Does your unit have a name and model number?

You will need to go outside to get the info needed,and have someone turn it on from inside while someone watches and listens on the outside
