Hi! We have an old Price Pfister Tub and shower faucet. It has been dripping for some time now and I would like to replace the whole thing with something newer anyway. If at all possible I would like to do it myself.

I have been doing some research and have found that the new OX8 valves have a ceramic disc that helps prevent leaking. The description online says it can be retrofitted in the old valve. If I can avoid switching out the valve(which would mean cutting a whole in the wall behind the shower) that would be great.

So, I guess my question is, has anyone here ever retrofitted an old Price Pfister valve with the ceramic disc? And is this something I can do myself or am I getting in over my head?

Could you furnish a link to where I can check out the retrofit kits? Are these stem or cartridge replacements?
I've put up a image of a of a shower valve. These are easy to work with and should give the average homeowner no problem with the ibnstallation. But I'd still like to see what you're going to be using. Regards, Tom

Hi Speedball1, Here's a link to valve I'm looking at. It's for a single handle shower. We have an 0X8 valve installed already, but it is about 14 years old. I don't know if there is a retrofit kit, the description just says it can retrofit with previous 08X models. Let me know what you think.

I wonder if they meant to replace the valve or if there's a retrofit kit available. I would contact Customer Support at, 1-800-891-0896 and ask.
