Hi, My 15 month old Lurcher won't eat. I really feel that its because she wants better (human food). I feed her a diet of chappie tins and dry as she has a difficult tum. I have had her checked by the vet and she seems to be drinking OK. Help. She is a very stubborn thing and also clever. However I have tried the putting her food down and taking it up again, it just isn't working and it's the 3rd day now. Does anyone have any suggestions. tjosephs

To tell you the truth, I had to look up the Lurcher. Found it was greyhound/soluki cross then I understood why you were having difficulties with the pup.

I don't know what chappie tins is, but I am assuming you are from the UK, right ?

Yes, they are very clever high energy dogs, similar to all sight hounds. My favourite breed is the borzoi, which is a scent and sight hound and also very large tall and lean. However, I never had any trouble feeding him, he would actually eat anything I put in front of him.

I would liike to mention though, your pup may be getting a little bored with her surroundings. I would suggest more activity, more walking running so she builds up an appetite for that food. Don't put her food down and take it way constantly, that is very confusing to her. I would suggest dry dog food down and leave it. When she gets hungry enough she will eat it.

Lovely breed of animal, so good luck with her, but I really do think more activity for her is the key here.

12-15 months is the "picky" time for a lot of dogs. For some reason they just go off their food at around this time.

You could try adding something like a few mashed up sardines to his usual meal or even a little raw beef/lamb/chicken mince to encourage him to eat.

I had a very difficult dog here an just by adding a single sardine to his food he was eating like a champ.

I would continue to place her food down adding no human food. When sh gets hungry enough the dog will eat!
