    Found: kitten with swollen heiny?
Just found an approximately 12 week old kitten tossed out on the side of the road. She? Is very friendly and ran out of the ditch toward me. She is obviously tamed somewhat (PURR) and was matted but surprisingly clean for a long haired white/calico kittie. Her anus (sorry, the word; it's just gross) is swollen and sticks out slightly. Anyone ever come across this or know what it might be? I fear she may have been tossed for medical reasons. We just adopted a kittie and are already paying VET BILLS! (sigh) I just want to brace myself for what might be.

Is she malnourished? Being overly skinny can make things look odd.

Heaths point is good, if she is skinny it can make things look very disproportionate.
And gawd only knows what she has been eating on the streets that may have upset her stomach.

Another possibility is worms and parasites, if she has a heavy infestation of worms then that could be causing a lot of problems.

If you would struggle to pay for vet bills then I would suggest taking her to your local humane society. It is less common for kittens to be euthanised as they are adopted out much easier than adult cats. Plus they would worm her, vaccinate and spay her and give her a full health check.

Thank you for all of your posts. We took her to the vet. She has severe diarrhea, dehydrated, conjunctivitis, distended belly from malnourishment, fleas, worms, and very worn down claws from trying to climb/escape something. She will be fine in time and with her sweet disposition, she is already in a custody battle between my mom and sister. Thank you again. Here's to a happy ending.
