    Noisy kitchen faucet
My kitchen faucet makes a high pitched ringing noise when I turn on the water. The sound continues until the water is shut off. It's a single lever faucet, and I'm a moron about plumbing, so I need a simple solution (other than getting a plumber!)
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a separate sprayer on the side of your faucet. If so it may have something to do with that. If you do have a sprayer use it several times and see if the noise changes while you are using the sprayer.

Let me know what you find out

Do you get the sound on hot, cold or both?

    Both - it's a single lever faucet

There is something that is being vibrated at a very high rate by the flow of water. If it occurs when the handle is all the way to hot and when it is all the way to cold then what ever it is must be in the faucet. Disassemble faucet and replace cartridge or seals and springs. Flush faucet out while you have it disassembled.

Using the sprayer makes no difference in the noise, except that the water doesn't always completely divert into the sprayer.

Thank you for your expertise. The noise occurs most loudly when the lever is in the middle-ish, mixing hot and cold water. While I could probably disassemble the faucet, putting it back together so that it works is beyond my ability. The faucet is 10 years old, so I'm reluctant to buy expensive parts. I do appreciate your help though. (maybe I'd better give in and just buy a new faucet, and have it installed... )
