There is no reason to be embarrassed to go to the doctor, we (nurses) have seen much worse and the docs see worse than we do.

If the embarrassment holds you back, consider finding a male doctor, he has a penis too.

Just because you don't think it is sexually related doesn't mean it is not. You need to go have this checked out. Period.

There are a few STDs that can mimic this, as well as a simple ingrown hair. Better safe than sorry.

For instance, if it were to be syphallis (which it probably is not, I am just using this for an example) and gets left untreated, they disease can permanently affect your brain.

So, put your mind at ease and see a doctor.

I am a nurse also & I would just like to add that even if you only have a genital wart- they are highly contagious(from skin to skin) Genital warts (HPV "virus") different from HSV(Herpes) can be a problem for women if they are on the cervix.
So, do see your Dr. to have the warts removed. In the meantime, condoms offer some protection(remember, they are highly contagious by direct contact)
