During chemistry class at school, I'm always feeling bored.
I don't know whether the teacher is boring or the subject itself
Anyone help me to make the class interesting
Or at least something to do during that period so that I won't sleep or chit chat with my friends. :eek:

I'm a real 'fan' of chemistry if you ask me. I don't know what dragged me to be like this. Maybe the teacher. My actual chemistry teacher is a real 'anaesthetic'. She makes me feel sleepy all the time. She's slow, repetitive and all the other boring stuff. Even thinking about it makes me feel sleepy, lol. She's the one who succeeded in making me hate chemistry. Fortunately, I don't always listen to her class then, and I have a wonderful chemistry teacher at tuition.

Coincidentally, he said that past Saturday that the teacher is somewhere responsible for the interest of his pupils. A passionate teacher will tend to induce that passion to his students. He talked about how a geography teacher made nearly all the students of a school choose geography, something that has never happened before!

One of the little 'thingy' about chemistry is that made me interested in it is the 'magical reactions' you have. You can have substances completely changing their colours! From yellow to green, from brown to colourless, from yellow to red, and a last one, from blue, to green, then to yellow, then orange and stops at red! :p

Chemistry involves a lot of visualisation. If you've got a 'visual mind', make the most of it. Try visualise ever reaction, the floating atoms, molecules in your head, making them sometimes knock with another molecule, or break up to bond with other compounds!

Btw, I would like to know what are the chapters you did,are doing or will do in chemistry this year. It's just to know what are the requirements, the limits. Don't tell me your grade, I don't use that system in my country.

now I'm going to learn a new chapter.
the chapter called Acid and Base if I'm not mistaken.

You did electrolysis? That requires you to know the relative reactivities of metals and non metals, to know which substance is discharged at the electrodes.

Acids and bases are relatively simple. An acid is a substance that reacts with a base to form a salt and water. The definition is for bases, they react with acids to form a salt and water.

You will have also amphoteric substances, which is found to react both with acids and bases, giving a salt and water.

It is to be noted that bases do not need to be in water to give their basic properties, but acids do need to be in aqueous solutions.

Unfortunately, there is not much to visualise there...

Just a trick for electrolysis, "Cathy's Ankle", for the electrolysis of concentrated solution of sodium chloride, that is salt. 'Cat' refers to the cathode, 'hy's' refers to the hydrogen being discharged instead of the sodium, 'An' refers to the anode, and 'kle' refers to Cl, chlorine being discharged at the anode, in the form of a green gas.
