    Cracked plastic shower base?
Hi all, we built a couple of units two years ago and the plastic shower base in one of the ensuites has cracked. I am wondering what may have caused this and if there are any fixes besides replacing the whole shower base. Is it possible to have dodgey bases? This is the second one to go.
    Thanks for your help.:)

Second one to go huh? That should have told you that your installation is faulty.
Shower pans ,like plastic and fiberglass tubs, can flex and give if they're not bedded
Correctly. And if they give and flex when stepped in bad things can happen. The drain seal can be ruptured or the unit will develop cracks.
Bedding a tub or shower base is a simple operation. You simply reinforce the bottom of the unit with wood , mortar or cement puddled up under the base and left tocure. This will give the tub or shower base the needed support that it must have.
I have no idea what a "dodgey" base is.
You already know what you have to do. That's right! The same as the last one that went bad. Replace it! Good luck and this time bed the base. Regards Tom
