Outdoor water spigot I can't shut off
    Hello
In the center of the plastic knob that WAS used to shut off the water, there WAS a threaded spot for a screw.
What threads that still exist, have now been stripped and torn apart.
So I have no handle and no way of turning the water off.
I've tried vice grips to grab anything and turn clockwise, but to no avail.
And I've tried to cap off the spigot with different attatchments, but the water pressure is too great and only breaks the seals in the attatchments.

So, do I need to replace the whole spigot
    Or can I dissmantle it

There is still a plastic hex nut
    Thanks for any help

Sounds like the hose bib's shot. Is yours soldered on or threaded? It's time to give your hose bib a nice funeral and send it off to hose bib heaven. Replace it! Good luck, Tom

In the mean time, if "I can't shut it off" means that it's more than dripping, either get a hose cap to put on it or attach a hose to it with a nozzle on the end. If the pressure is to great for a hose cap you should be checking your water pressure.
"Plastic knob", "plastic hex nut", what's this hose bib made of ? What kind of pipeing do you have?
