Being Sued for Credit Card Debt: How to answer?
    Hello,

I am being sued by a credit card that I am in default on. I owe approx $2600.

I need help regarding how to file a motion. I have 30 days. I know I owe the debt, but I had to stop paying because we can't afford it right now. I don't dispute the debt but there is no way I can pay them what I owe. How should I answer?

Or, should I contact the attorney's office to see if I can work out a repayment plan with them?

    Thanks!

How far behind are you? $2600 may seem like a whole lot and it is in a way but I know people that have defaulted on $26,000! So may be you can work out a repayment plan. The credit card company doesn't care that you, like so many of us now are struggling all they want is their money and I have to admit if you owe it you need to pay it. If you can not work out a payment plan with them then if they get a judgement they will come after your wages,if your state allows and also your bank accounts

DownUnder: Thanks for the response. I am 120 days behind and I have no wages (my husband is the only one working now) due to a lay. I have been trying to find work here, with a college degree, with no success. I also am not listed on our bank account. I closed mine when things started to go south. Any more advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks!
