Puppy poops when husband is away
I have a five month old male husky. He is trained to go outside, but when my husband goes to work (he works out of town and is gone for about a week) he has started to poop on the floor. He has even done this right in front of me. I know he misses my husband, and I try to do everything for him when "daddy" is away, but I don't know how to stop this bad behavior. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

It sounds like you are going to have to take more of a dominant role in the household.
It sounds like the pup has clung onto your husband as the 'pack leader' and is upset when he leaves.

When he is there make sure it is you that feeds, him, takes him out to go to the toilet and goes for walks with him.
Get your husband to pay a little less attention to him for a while.
I know it sounds mean but you need to break the bond a little so he is less upset when he goes away for work.

Five months is a good time to start obedience training. Your young male is challenging his place in the pecking order and a class would be a good way to re-establish your status in his eyes.

Totally agree with both of you we had a similar situation with MY puppy who's the baby of the house. Because she was my girl I did everything for her. I became the main role in the house. When I was out or my hubby had her she would cry an pine till I got home, she wouldn't walk for him on a lead either and trashed my house. I asked a dog trainer why she was being so naughty when I'm not there but hubby is? She told me I'd spoilt her and he needs to play more of a dominant role with her when I'm around, and I should step back and let him. She told me she's a family dog and the rest of my family should be able to handle her. She's 19months now and is such a lovely dog for all of us. Good luck with your training hope all goes well.
