16 and want birth control.
I'm 16 and I been thinking about taking birth control.

Don't know how it works very well, and I want to learn about it before going a clinic. I will probably ask my dad first, then have mom take me.

How does it work? (how does the cycle thing work, when do I take the pill? When will I get my period?) I herd It helps your acne too! Which can help me out a lot.

Does it have any bad side effects?

Please let me know.

Here's a good starting place for some info. As you will see, it is not always just pick one. There are different things to consider when deciding on a birth control method. Smart of you to start checking for information!

It is a very good thing that you can talk to your parents about sex!

I agree that it is good, but I will forever stand my ground saying:
You are too young for sex!

Sex is for making babies. Until you can support a baby, don't have sex.

The only bad thing with the pill is you have to take it at the same time everyday 1 missed pill and the rest of the month won't work and yeah it does help acne a lot there aren't side effects unless your allergic to some of the ingredients or take other meds so ask your doc hpe that helps

That is not the only bad thing about birth control pills - the appropriate form of birth control, particularly for a 16 year old, is best made by the Physician, the patient and possibly the parent, working together, discussing all of the options.

I think Have sex, WHEN UR READY. Deffently use protection and deffently do not have a baby if your not ready support it. But the pill isn't an excuse to have sex, its to help with everything else =]

Realize that no form of birth control is 100%. You could still get pregnant.

So, are you ready for a child? That's one of the questions you should be asking yourself.

Yes, I agree with you 100%. Except, I say "When you're ready."

However, as I already said, sex is for babies.
No contraceptive is 100% effective. Using all you can in one, there is still a chance to make a baby. Having sex, means being ready. Being ready means having the ability to deal with ALL of the consequences. Any time you have sex, there is a chance you will make a baby and you have to be "ready" for that too.

I stand by my original post 100%.

Some of the other benefits to because are that it regulates your cycle and sometimes makes your flow lighter and/or makes pms less miserable. My period went from being really heavy and lasting almost a week to being really light and lasting an average of 3 days. And my cramps are no where near as painful as they used to be. I also used to get terrible back aches with my period, not that's become very rare for me. I didn't notice any changes in more or less acne. Some women do. Some women also experience weight gain. There's risk factors to consider too. The only ones that come to mind are if you have high blood pressure or smoke and are over 35, but seeing as your 16 I don't see that being an issue for you. :) it does not protect against stds so, even though I agree that you're too young to have sex, at least if you do, be smart about it and use condoms.

Volkswagen, care to tell us some more details? You can't just put something like that out there and not tell the whole story. Now I'm dying to know. Lol
