My 5month old beagle mikey has started pooping in his crate at night. He gets brought out a few times at night before we go to bed sometimes he poops sometimes not. We turn in for bed at about 11p, I'm up at 6:30a to bring him out by the time I get downstairs there's a present for me in his crate, there's been no change in his food, his last feeding is between 6-8p. I don't know what I'm doing wrong

You could try starting to walk him later in the afternoon.
A half hour walk before bed might get him to poop before he goes in his crate instead of doing it in the middle of the night.

What time does he have dinner?
You could make feeding time a little earlier.
