Rough-in for tub in slab, do I need tub-box?
    I am a DIYer.
I did the rough-in for our guest house outbuilding. Concrete slab.
For the centerdrain tub I used a tub-box.
It worked out OK I guess.
I then tiled over the bathroom floor and the stub-out.

Now we are getting ready to do the main house concrete slab which will also have a tub.
Do I HAVE to use a tub-box or can I just make the trap and leave the stub out poking up extra long for the pour? Then later cut it to proper height when the tub is installed?

Can't do that! A tub dap-out,( tub-box) nust be installed because the tub waste extends beneath the floor line to connect to the trap.
Your only other option would be to put the tub up on a platform. Good luck, Tom
