I'm a married 36 year old lady. I have 2 children age 11 and 6. Lately, my mensus is not consistent. On 20 June 09, I had my menses for 4 days. Than on 13 July 09, I had thick brown disharge for like 3 - 4 days. Now, on the 28 July, I notice light brown discharge again. So far, no menses yet. I'm still sexually active with my husband. I'm worried. Could it just be hormonal changes? We both do not use any safety measures like condom or contraceptive pill. My last pap smear done 3 yrs ago was clean.

Please advice. Thanks

Dear friend even am worried about the same problem with brown discharge .am 23 year old and newly married.I hope someone who had studied about this can give us a clear answer.

"Brown" discharge is considered old blood that hadn't yet flushed out of the body.

Its perfectly normal in most cases and usually occurs just before or just after your period.

Side note to Waty: Consider having a PAP smear yearly. A result of 3 years is no longer valid. Also, have you taken a pregnancy test?
