Yes... and even if you don't, they will still know because...

    They're watching you.

Yes, hair follicle can test as far back as months if not longer... depending on how long your hair is.

Yes I think I saw him using it on Utube. But yes of course the test would show the current usage

I cannot imagine that it is a serious question. Which is why I couldn't imagine giving too serious of an answer :D

Typically, someone that DOES smoke crack, doesn't refer to it as "smoking crack". Believe it or not, even to them, it is kind of a derogatory term.

And if they DO call it that, they most likely don't know what they are talking about.

Hair folicle testing is very expensive and is usually done only for high profile jobs,my d.e.a. agent nieghbor says it can pull up one time pot use for up to a year.
Length of hair is not an issue
How fast your hair grows is but it's the root
And dna from the root that is tested

How would it be tested from the root unless they pulled the hair out? My husband had to do a hair test for a job where he also had to be certified to handle high explosives and they shaved it. They took some from his head, some from his leg and some from somewhere else, I forgot where. Arm maybe? I don't know. But anyway, none of it was yanked out just shaved at the surface, so there would be no root to test, just the length of the hair. I can't imagine anyone submitting a sample has their hair pulled out to include the root...

Doe not matter the way it was removed just that it will come back positive. And frankly I hope he does not get the job. Would you want someone handling explosives who has used drugs... not me! BOOM!

I worked for the Feds - they pulled out a strand from my head.

Well, of course I wouldn't want this person to work for me/with me! I wasn't commenting at all on the original question, just the post above mine. I was under the assumption that MOST hair tests just involve shaving some hair off from various places on the body. I had never heard of hair being yanked out, only shaved off.

So you say they took a single hair from your head Judy? Did they also shave off or cut off some hair? I thought they took a good sampling of hair to get a good round answer.

Probably. Most drug tests can detect use up to 30 days prior.

My husbands test was for 3 months back. I think hair tests could go back as far as the length of the hair, but of course that would be a great expense. I think a year is pretty much the max normally, 3 months is more of a norm for most testing from what I've read about the subject. I think it would have to be a pretty special case to go back more than a year!

It has nothing to do with length of hair it the money they want to spend for the test it can go back yrs. I'm trying to tell you, they have high end tests.

I have very long hair, far past my shoulders.

They pulled out 2 or 3 strands, certainly no more than that, from the crown of my head. No, they did no shaving or cutting. My understanding is that if it shows positive here it will show positive there.

My husband was also tested randomly and to the best of my knowledge they also pulled out 2 or 3 strands, also from the crown of his head.

I'll ask my husband if they pulled any hair out along with shaving some. Maybe they did... I wasn't there so he might've told me but I just don't remember. I am sure that they shaved quite a bit of hair off though, because he had a spot on his leg that was hairless for a long time and also a spot on his head where they shaved it!
