I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD pickup truck. Lately my ABS light has started coming on on my dashboard. In the manual it just says "take it to your dealer for servicing." Can someone give me a rough idea of what it will cost for "servicing"? The truck has about 77,000 miles on it and the only thing that has ever been done to it is regular routine oil changes so I'm hoping some sensor has just gone out or needs resetting or something. I'm located in LaGrange, GA. Thanks!

I had the ABS light and the traction light come on at the same time. It wasn't the ABS system and it wasn't the traction system. It was the oxygen sensor. Not sure if I had check engine on too, probably did.

ABS could very well be a wheel speed sensor.

Someone with an appropriate scan tool needs to retrieve the stored code(s) and then you can report back here and we'll help if we can.
Finding what code stored is critical.

Autozone will do the scan for free.

But, you should check with your local Chevy dealer. In some cases, and for some components (such as modules, etc) there is a slightly longer warranty than other vehicle items. The dealer can check your vehicles Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to determine if you have the additional coverage.
Find the code(s) and check either here or with your dealer.

Cool, I'll check with Autozone and get the code and let you guys know. I've got a friend that's a salesperson at the local dealership and I'll ask her about it too. It usually comes on after I've driven it, parked and then came back to the truck a few minutes later. Typically it's when I back up out of a parking space and then start forward, that's when it comes on and bing, bing, bings... Thanks guys.

Well guys, Autozone said they could not scan the codes for the ABS light because it was part of the wheel system. They can only scan the codes for the "check engine" light. So how do "non-dealer" repair centers check it? :-(

Buy or borrow an Actron CP9449 ABS BrakeScan ($200), or equivalent, which plugs into the OBD-II port.

If Autozone can't scan it, I guess I'll just have to take it on in and bite the bullet. I don't have anyway of getting the codes if an auto parts store can't or won't do it. I appreciate your help.

You can borrow tools from Autozone with a deposit. You don't rent them. See if you can borrow the proper scanner.
