How am I going to get a girlfriend if I can't drive a car? I can't pass the test to get my permit anyway and my Doctor says I can't drive due to poor Judgment so How am I going to get a girlfriend?

Can you elaborate on why a Doctor would tell you your poor judgement is going to keep you from getting a license?

Have you taken Driver's Education? I don't recall a test to get your permit, but if there was one, it was prepared for in Driver's Education. Where do you live?

If a girl doesn't want to be bother with you because you don't have a car then guess what? You don't need her.

You must have did some stupid stuff for a doctor to tell you what he told you.

Also, Justwantfair in New York you have to take a written test to get your permit. Then once you get your permit you have to enroll in a 5 hour class(5 hours about driving safe). Then you can schedule a road test or go to a driving school if you need to. At least that is the way it is in the City.

Justy, here in Tenn the kiddos take a computerized test to get their permit, they drive for a year then take the road test for their license. Drivers Ed is offered here, but not through the schools like it used to be, and is extremely expensive.

Same here, computerized test, then at least one year of supervised driving.

Drivers ed isn't a necessity but your insurance premium will be lower if you take the course.

I'm confused about the diagnosis your doctor gave you. How does someone test for poor judgement?

What kind of "poor judgment" is your doctor referring to? And why can't you pass the test for your permit? But, all of that aside, you'll just have to have your girlfriend do all the driving in her car lol! But seriously, no girl who's worth the time of day from you is going to care whether you have a driver's license. You can attract plenty of women, even without a driver's license.

You sound like you are probably young, permit age is generally 15 - 16, at least around here, so I'll let you in on a little hint.

The stuff you see on T.V. shows, where all high school girls think driving is sexy and a man that can drive is so much hotter, it's just T.V.

For most girls it really doesn't matter that much and like Liz said if the girl does only care about a car then why even bother?

Poor Judgment means I do not have the ability to make a Quick Decision poor Judgment also involves Distance negotiating while driving down one way streets with cars parked on both sides I might hit one of them I can't stay focused on Driving cause you can get easily distracted.

it's a Doctors objectivity they know if you may be able to drive a car or not.

I have mild mental retardation does this answer your Question?

I'm not sure that mild mental retardation is your problem cause it sure doesn't show in your posts, but what do I know.

Other skills can be lacking like co-ordination.

My suggestion. Video games, pure and simple. Just don't give up. A little each day.

Are you out in the rural areas and have no other way to get around?
Isn't there anything you can get involved with like social groups or hobbies where you could meet girls.
Not all girls need a guy that have a car. Some girls will even be willing to drive you.

First of all I would ask for a rational doctor and next I would have someone tutor me on the driving test. Who told you that you have to agree with the doctor? You are you, an individual, and can observe and decide things for yourself. You can make friends who have a car and double date. I would never go out with a girl that thought I had to have a car to date her. Find a girl who likes you for being you and could care less if you do not own a car...

My husband has moderate mental retardation(the non-specific type. No specific disorder or dysfunction)

He has never gotten a license. And due to poor judgement and bad 'quick decision' skills, he probably would also not be able to get a license (though he has never tried, nor does he want to)

And he managed to catch me ;)

Driving is not everything. If a woman won't date you because you can't drive, you are better off without her, and she is not worth your time.

Also, remmeber, the chances of you finding a life partner at this time in your life are slim. Focus on having fun and being a kid. The love and romance can wait till later ;)

And remember, I totally did not mind picking my husband up in my car when he was my boyfriend. And when you find that right special girl, she won't mind either :)

Right on that's why my Doctor won't let me have a license poor decision skills aka not quick enough to make a Decision Judging Distance and other things.
