So, my sister got into a business about 2 months before me, well, I worked hard and I'm ready to be promoted, well, the way it works is if you build a team with 3 people then you ar qualified to get promoted, its been about 5 months since she's been in the business and 3 for me, I already have my team, but shew ent and had the office manager to have one of my people switched under her, taking of my my people away and leaving me with one more to go, even though I already did what I had to do, so I went and talked to the vice president and she sait, who ever did the work gets the credit, so she said she would cahnge it, then I let my sister know because that was the right think to do rather then just letting her find out. So , she got mad, stopped giving me rides, and pretty much said that if iwas starving she wouldn't help. All because of a promotion at work and that pretty sad when your own sister would say that, we are and I don't know if will will be in a partnership after those comments, but, I need some advice on how to deal with this, they said that they did that because she was in the business first and wanted her to get promoted first. But the fules say if you do the work you get promoted. So its like if I let this go, she's going to be promoted, I stay behind and I have to work much harder to get mor team mates. Any help will do.

I'm not following you because you said that they gave the promotion back to you and then you say she got the promotion.
If she got the promotion why is she mad at you? If she was given back the promotion and you want the job you may just have to go along and keep the peace. Work hard some more and then be eligible for the next promotion.
Did she have 4 people and you had 5?
Life isn't fair and sometimes we have to do what we have to do.
They really shouldn't be switching the rules but unless there is somebody above them to report it to then I don't see you having much choice.

Whoever works the hardest and gets the job done gets the promotion. That's the company rules and that is what makes sense.
I can't stand it when people get a promotion just because they have "been there a long time" but do not meet the work requirements.

I feel she will get over it.
She is jealous at the moment that you may be doing better at the job than she is.

Talk to her and explain that that is the company policy, if she wants to promotion then she just has to work harder, she took a staff member out from under you for petes sake! Sounds like she is the one being unfair.

OK here's what happen, she was going to get promoted, and when I talked to the VP she didn't agree with what happen and neither did I, so she said she will reverse it so I will be the one getting promoted. When she had talked to the office manager, she didn't want to promote her, but he lied and said that we ALL agreed that that was what we will do, but when I told her the truth she said OK and she's going to change it, so now the sis is mad at me for pretty much standing up for what was mine.

What's funny, is she called me selfish and was in it for myself, not to build a team or business. she's really mad because she won't be over riding me, once I pass her up , if I do any business she won't get paid, but , its been this long and she's stll at the same position, so I can't help it if I'm working a little harder or a little more, it is what it is, but she can't accept that. And I can't really talk to her without her getting mad and disprespecting me. I mean what kind of partner in a business does that??

I don't know how you can make her 'see the light' so to speak but I can tell you that yes, she is the one being selfish, not you!

You are her brother, she should be happy for you getting a promotion, whether you are in the same business or not.

It sounds like she was doing it to undermine you (I could be wrong)

The only thing you really can do is to say to her that you have been working very hard, tell her that she has been as well so you don't upset her but you have just done that little bit more (provide proof if you can)

Obviously try to explain it to her calmly and make sure you tell her that she is doing a fantastic job at work, I feel a little ego stroking on her part may be necessary to keep the peace even if it is not right.

The reason they did that was because she didn't have all the people she needed, so by taking one of mine, she would have enough, leaving me with less people then I need. Making me have to work harder to get another one.
Yeah thas pretty much what everyone else is saying too, that her ego iis getting in the way, and in this business you have to put that ego aside and be open to learning in order to get ahead,

The way I see it you did the work, you get the rewards.

If your sister doesn't like it - too bad!

Sorry if this has affected your relationship with her, but that's what life is like. We all have to deal with life's ups an downs, this is a lesson for her and a lesson for you.

- She tried to get something she hadn't worked for and failed.
- You stood up for your rights and got what you'd worked for.

Ignore your sister if she's mad - she'll get over it eventually.
