Student visa to PR with minor conviction
I am an international student in Canada for the past 4 years. I had an assault charge against me, but it was dropped. However while the charge was pending I broke my condition and was charged with failure to comply and I was given a conditionary discharge.I completed the probationary period almost 2 years ago.I was recently charged with public mischief but the charge was withdrawn and diverted. I needed to get a police clearance cert from the city I am in and the police clearnace came back 100% clear, however, the RCMP fingerprint search showed that I had been arrested once for assault and the charge was withdrawn. I have submitted all the paperwork more than 2 months back and my family is still awaiting a call from the immigration authorities. My study permit is also nearing its expiry, so I am in the process of renewing that but have no idea how these charges would affect anything. I was told that as my assault charge was withdrawn, the failure to comply charge becomes void as well and doesn't count. If someone could please advise me as to what to expect from the immigration authorities then it would be great.thanks
