    Washing Machine Drain
I have been told that I should not use a "P" trap in a washing machine drain line due to the water in the "P" trap being forced out when the washing machine dumps. But should use a "barrell" type trap.

    Any comments?

    Hi Wramer1.

If you have an individual vent or a mechanical vent associated with the washing machine drain then you will want to install a PTRAP.

If you are in Maine or any other state that has similar codes then you can install a DRUM TRAP (barrel type) if you are within say 5 feet or less of a waste/vent stack.

95% of states use the PTRAP and individual vents here... :)

If you'd like more info. On how to pipe up a washing machine with vent and trap just let us know.
